Raymond Lee Carter Jr.

On Thursday February 9, 2012, Deputies from the Echols County Sheriff's Office were attempting to serve a bond revocation order on Raymond Lee Carter Jr. age 41, at his residence of 323 Pete Road. After no response from the residence deputies noticed in plain view a 22. caliber rifle located in Carter’s vehicle, which was parked near the door of the residence. Carter who is a convicted felon, is prohibited by law from possessing a firearm. A search warrant was obtained for the residence for the purposes of determining if there were any other firearms located inside the residence. A search of the residence did not yield any other weapons but did reveal drug activity. Located on the kitchen counter were several items which were indicative of methamphetamine manufacturing. A field test was conducted and tested positive for the presence of methamphetamine. Evidence was collected from the scene and Carter was later apprehended by Sheriff’s deputies at another residence nearby. Carter faces charges of possession of firearm by a convicted felon and felony possession of methamphetamine, Carter had been released on January 25, 2012 for similar charges which include felony sell of methamphetamine, possession of firearm by convicted felon, two counts of felony obstruction of an officer and two counts of felony aggravated assault. Carter was transported to the Lowndes County jail for processing.
