Discovery of Moonshine Still Leads to Arrest

On January 14, 2016 the Echols County Sheriff’s Office located a moonshine still in a wooded area off of Hwy 94 E at about the 26 mile marker. Approximately four, five gallon jugs of moonshine, with a street value of $400, was located at the still sight ready for pick up. While staking out the location, Sheriff Courson and Deputies observed a small green car pull into the still sight. A male identified as Dennis Henderson, 51 of Fargo, GA exited the vehicle. Henderson approached the still sight and was in the process of retrieving the jugs of moonshine for transportation and sale. Henderson was taken into custody without incident. Henderson is being charged with felony manufacturing of distilled spirits, misdemeanor possession of distilled spirits, and felony possession of tools during commission of a crime.
