Lake Park men face cocaine trafficking charges
An interstate investigation resulted in authorities seizing a firearm and $70,000 worth in cocaine from two Lake Park men who had been traveling in separate vehicles to deliver the contraband from Texas.
Sheriff Courson stated a joint investigation between the Echols County Sheriff's Office, the Hamilton County Sheriffs Office and the Lowndes County Sheriffs Office culminated in the arrest of Jimmy Tucker Jr. and Jimmy Davis. On Thursday February 7, 2013 for the alleged connection in the trafficking of cocaine.
Sheriff Courson stated that investigators have been exploring the possibility that Tucker and Davis had been transporting the suspected Cocaine from a location in Texas to the South Georgia and North Florida area for distribution.
The pair, who was driving separate vehicles, was stopped in Hamilton County on CR-143 and investigators established that the two men had been traveling together.
A K-9 unit indicated a positive alert for narcotics while sniffing the exterior of the vehicle during the traffic stop. Nearly a kilogram of cocaine was discovered in one vehicle during the subsequent search and Tucker was found to be in possession of a handgun.
Both men were transported to the Hamilton County jail where they remain.
Jimmy Lamar Tucker Jr. 32 of Lake Park was charged with felony trafficking in cocaine, felony possession of cocaine with the intent to distribute, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
Jimmy Cecil Davis 52 of Lake Park was charged with felony trafficking in cocaine, felony possession of cocaine with the intent to distribute.
Sheriff Courson would like to thank all agencies involved in the investigation.
